valentine's day

sunday night, matty called me and reserved my time for monday evening (valentine's day). instead of telling me what we're doing/where we are going (i had intended on asking him if he wanted to make dinner together) he asked, "when is the earliest you can get to arlington?" i told him after work and a swim, i would make it home by 7:15-7:30, and then catch the 77 bus, which would get me to arlington by 7:45-8:00. he tells me that's fine, and that i should stop by home before i go to drop off my stuff and change into something comfy.

monday rolls around, and instead of going to the gym, i work on a presentation at work until 7:45. i called matty when i got out of the porter square T station, asking where on the 77 bus i should hop out. he says he's not sure, and will call me back in 15 min to give me more directions. i come home and the foyer light is on, and i say hi (but hear nobody) so i assume that whoever is home is in the kitchen. i change out of work clothes, debate whether to grab something to eat (and even call matty to ask if we're getting dinner or if i should eat something first!), and get my stuff ready to head out the door. first though, i go to the kitchen to say hi to cindy (who i assume is home) and when i open the door to the living room, i see a large man (matty) sitting at the dining room table reading his national geographic by candlelight. we weren't going to arlington for dinner - it was all a ruse! what a pleasant surprise - and what a delicious 3-course fondue dinner he prepared. :)

this boy rocks. i am an extremely lucky girl.
